MATHletes became LearnStorm Ireland
The MATHletes Challenge started two years ago in Ireland to increase Irish students’ competence and confidence in mathematics.
The success of MATHletes inspired Khan Academy to take the challenge to the world as LearnStorm. This change made Ireland a co-founding country, along with the USA, of a new global learning movement.
Free to Participate
LearnStorm was open to students in the Republic of Ireland (4th Class to 5th year) and Northern Ireland (Primary 6 to Year 13).
Points For Competing
Students accumulated mastery points by completing maths challenges online and earned points for their school along with invites to in-person celebrations.
Prizes
Over €20,000 in prizes were awarded to national, provincial, and county finalists throughout the challenge.
Key Dates
The challenge took place from 29th January to 1st April 2016, with the chance to earn invitations to epic in-person final celebrations in April and May.
